The company

MFL GROUP, based in Molteno, has been engaged in designing and manufacturing machines for drawing, stranding, armoring, and extrusion for the processing of ferrous and non-ferrous wire and cable for over 120 years. The entire group, with customers in more than 100 countries worldwide, employs about 400 people, including 90 engineers, with production sites in Italy, Spain, and China. In keeping with its innovative nature, the group created MFL X in 2019, the team specialized in the development of smart industrial applications aimed at digitalizing and improving MFL production lines. That same year, it met 40Factroy and began a fruitful collaboration that continues to this day.

Acumen, MFL Group’s IIoT application based on MAT.

The MAT configured for MFL is named “Acumen”, to evoke the advanced intelligence of the application that organizes complex production data to make information accessible and simple for users.

The solution is designed to manage all essential aspects of machines built by the group companies: real-time monitoring of process variables, efficiency analysis, energy consumption, quality, complete traceability of the produced wire thanks to vision algorithms based on Machine Learning techniques.
Operationally, the application aims to support users in making informed strategic decisions, extracting value from data generated by production lines, and transforming customer service into an efficient and enjoyable experience, thanks to an integrated ticket opening system directly in the app.

Thanks to 40Factory and MFL X, MFL GROUP fully enters the world of data-based services and lays the foundations for new models of partnership with its customers.
