At SPS Italia 40Factory will show the latest developments of Mat, the Industrial iot Edge & Cloud multi-platform solution for machinery, and Wilson.ai, the implementation of chat-GPT for industrial use. The full article on Innovation Post.
Analysis of machine and plant data but also customer care, training, simplified access to company knowledge and enabling new business models and much more: at SPS Italia, scheduled in Parma from 23 to 25 May, 40 Factory will stage its concept of Industrial IoT end-to-end.
With a stand of over 100 square meters in the Digital District 4.0 area, 40Factory will present the latest developments of MAT, the Industrial iot Edge & Cloud multi-platform solution for machinery.
“We think that talking about Industrial iot today is reductive if you do not consider the overall context in which this technology is placed. After five years of experience and with more than 70 active, industry-leading machine builder customers, we are able to provide both the technology and advice needed to make the iot become an added value and not a mere engineering experiment that translates, almost always, in a failure”, comments Camillo Ghelfi, CEO of 40Factory.

The first innovation consists in the MAT modules dedicated to visual 3D documentation, that allow you to use 3D models to create machine manuals, interactive procedures for maintenance and training and spare parts replenishment systems with e-commerce.
All this can also be used in virtual reality (VR). MAT XR by Linkersys, così è so it is called the 3D extension of Mat, realized thanks to the partnership with Desys, a reality with more than 30 years of experience in the industry, integrating the Linkersys platform with MAT.
At the stand it will be possible to touch MAT XR applied to an automotive painting line, also with VR experience, through the case of the customer Geico Taikisha.
Among the other novelties presented, we find Wilson.ai, the latest born in 40Factory. A virtual assistant, based on GPT alorithms, able to support the machine manufacturer in the processes of maintenance, training and access to internal knowledge.
“Training takes place from any text-based document, such as PDF manuals, intervention reports and Excel files. Wilson.ai is able to handle in minutes about 45% of the service requests that the manufacturer receives annually,” explains Ghelfi.
The company has recently launched a Beta Program dedicated to Wilson.ai, involving 16 companies including machine manufacturers and users.
MAT is an open solution, at the cloud level are supporting the main industrial iot platforms of the market: Microsoft Azure, Siemens Insight Hub (MindSphere), Software AG Cumulocity e presto anche AWS.
“To meet the growing need of our OEM customers to manage and upgrade the fleet of connected Edge PCs, we decided to natively integrate Portainer, a leading product for fleet management of iot devices based on Docker technology. With Portainer, of which 40Factory has become ISV Partner, we are able to guarantee a safe and efficient management of Edge MAT PCs, ensuring openness and independence from hardware vendors, a feature that has always distinguished our proposal”.
The partnership with Sew-Eurodrive
Finally, it will be shown how MAT is able toable to capture in a plug-and-play way the operating data from Sew-Eurodrive devices, equipped with the Sew DriveRadar platform.
This is possible thanks to the “Mat for Sew” connector. There will also be a 40Factory corner at the stand of Sew-Eurodrive in hall 3.
“This important partnership with Sew will enable all MAT customers using Sew components to take full advantage of their diagnostic capabilities to perform condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. We must think of iot as the touchpoint between the end customers of the machines, that is the users and the constructors of the same. It is through the iot that all value services, enabled by digital, are accessible and easily accessible. A 360-degree approach, therefore, that goes far beyond the simple concepts of monitoring and data analysis; bringing the iot to be the true enabler of the new business models of the machiney sector”, concludes Ghelfi.
