40Factory closes a 4 million euro Series A investment round subscribed by Gefran
Piacenza, January 31, 2025 – 40Factory S.r.l, an Italian tech scale-up specializing in Industrial IoT and Generative AI solutions for the machinery sector, announces the closure of a 4 million euro Series A investment round, fully subscribed by Gefran S.p.A., a leading group in the industrial automation sector.
This is the second investment round for 40Factory, following the one closed in 2022, which saw the entry of Bit Atlas S.r.l., a vehicle participated by MFL Group and the Investment Banking Boutique Cenciarini & Co., both of which co-promoted this second Series A investment round.
Cenciarini & Co. also acted as the advisor in the fundraising operation, actively supporting the strategic and financial process of the transaction, while lawyer Raffaello Stendardi and lawyer Gabriele Tricamo served as legal advisors.
Founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Camillo Ghelfi alongside the founding partners, 40Factory offers industrial machinery manufacturers and end-users an Industrial IoT (Internet of Things) platform for collecting, analyzing, and enhancing machine data, integrated with a generative artificial intelligence system dedicated to assisting with the use of industrial plants. 40Factory counts some of Italy’s leading machinery manufacturers among its clients. The company closed 2024 with a turnover exceeding €1.5 million and expects to reach €3 million in 2025. From 2021 to 2024, it recorded a compound annual growth rate of over 50%.
“This investment represents a key moment in our growth journey,” said Camillo Ghelfi, founder and CEO of 40Factory. “After the first Seed round closed in 2022 with Bit Atlas, this new capital will allow us to strengthen our digital platform for the industrial machinery sector, consisting of MAT (Industrial IoT) and Wilson.ai (Generative AI Agents). Our goal is to increasingly integrate AI and Industrial IoT to propel machinery manufacturers worldwide into the future and turn the data generated by industrial plants into tangible value.”
Gefran’s entry into 40Factory’s capital represents not only financial support but also an important strategic synergy. “In addition to financial resources, Gefran brings a wealth of experience and expertise in our target sectors,” added Ghelfi. “This collaboration strengthens our ability to innovate and create value for industrial machinery manufacturers.”
Marcello Perini, CEO of the Gefran Group, commented: “We are very pleased with this operation, which represents a key step in our growth strategy. We were looking for a company that would allow us to integrate our product and solution offering with services capable of fully meeting the needs of customers facing the challenges of digitalization and sustainability. In 40Factory, we have found a partner with strong expertise in IoT and generative AI, who shares our approach focused on collaboration and support for OEMs. With this investment, we have further strengthened our position as a company that supports its clients not only in controlling industrial processes but also in creating value through the management of collected data.”
The completion of the transaction is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2025 and is subject to the fulfillment of certain customary conditions for transactions of this type, including approval by the regulatory authorities.
